Purpose of the Position
The Construction Manager is responsible and accountable for implementing complex construction projects. The Construction Manager works closely with the NASA customer, design engineers, and as well as contractors to ensure all construction work is completed to comply with design requirements, specifications, on time and within the assigned budget, with an emphasis on ensuring work is completed safely.
Principal Duties/Responsibilities
This position is going to oversee the efficient work of technicians to mitigate safety observations while performing basic corrective maintenance activities in the facilities they’re working.
Responsible for compiling of construction procurement packages, construction project planning, execution, control, and close out
Review plans and specifications to ensure that work is in compliance
Work with engineering, procurement, and project controls teams to ensure all phases of the project are successful
Obtain and manage adequate resources to meet all project objectives in the most efficient and effective manner
Responsible for overall project delivery (cost, schedule, quality, information, contracts) on multiple project assignments
Serves as best practices/quality resources within own discipline or as technical expert on functional or cross-functional teams or projects
Manages budgets, schedules, scope, construction contracts, documents, procedures and controls for assigned projects
Attends assigned meetings to cover weekly job progress meetings
Resolves complex construction related issues, disputes, and disagreements
Excellent communication skills as this position is client facing
Ability to multitask and work in a fast pace environment
Observe and inspect ongoing construction work
Performs other job responsibilities as assigned
Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor of Science in an Engineering discipline, Construction Management, or Architecture preferred
10 or more years in a construction management role
5 years of experience as a Construction Manager in an Engineering, Environmental or Construction organization required
8-10 years experience in electrical knowledge in life safety controls, low voltage distribution, facility electrical system troubleshooting
Strong working knowledge of pre-design and pre-construction, building systems/components and technology, contract management, project delivery methods, team building and client relationship building required
Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite preferred
Certified Construction Manager (CCM) preferred
Experience in Preventive/Corrective Maintenance with a high degree of knowledge of facility safety systems, operating systems and general building architectural repairs is critical.
Other Requirements
Must be a U.S. Citizen in order to obtain required NASA badge.
Must be able to provide a certified Birth Certificate (with state seal), Passport, or INS Citizenship documents on date of hire. (Candidate will be sent home is this paperwork is not provided upon arrival on date of hire.)
Must have the ability to communicate the English language, both verbally and written, in an effective manner.
Must have a valid driver’s license.
