Syncom Space Services, Inc. (S3) is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Test Operations Engineering team at NASA John C. Stennis Space Center.  The ideal candidate will perform complex Electrical Design and Operations engineering tasks and provide technical support in compliance with current electrical industry and site standards.

Purpose of the Position

• Plans, designs, develops, installs, modifies, and evaluates electric or electronic equipment, data acquisition processing hardware and/or electrical components, mechanisms, materials, circuitry, equipment, or processes to support the testing of rocket engines

Principal Duties/Responsibilities of the Position

• Designs, plans, and oversees the installation and maintenance of electric or electronic equipment, components, and circuits for new and existing products.

• Defines requirements and creates schematics for hardware system architecture. Evaluates performance, integrates hardware units and interconnection of units.

• Selects appropriate components based upon reliability, performance, and availability.

• Conducts validation, verification, and qualification testing. Conducts error testing of systems and circuit designs.

• Provides product support as appropriate by isolating faults and resolving design issues.

• Ensures electrical designs comply with product specifications. Verifies designs are implemented with accurate consideration for power management, systems interfaces, etc

• Ensures designs incorporate approval agencies and electrical safety standards. Participates in reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance.

• Provide Test Operations support with developing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and performing procedures to verify functionality of Data Acquisition Systems (DAS) hardware (Preston, Pacific Instruments, Dynamic, etc.) software, and supporting components (sensors, transducers, and transmitters)

• Develop work procedures to direct work, execute, and document technicians’ work 

• Review vendor capability to support product development and recommends product specifications and component selection. Monitors the activities of subcontracted technical services.

• All other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field 

• Five or more years of engineering experience in a related area

• Experience working at a NASA facility preferred

• Experience working with engineering processes and procedures

• Experience working with department's overall business objectives and goals

Other Requirements

• Must be a U.S. Citizen in order to obtain required NASA badge.

• Must be able to provide a certified Birth Certificate (with state seal), Passport, or INS Citizenship documents on date of hire (candidate will be sent home if this paperwork is not provided upon arrival on date of hire).

• Must have the ability to communicate the English language, both verbally and written, in an effective manner.

• Must have, and maintain, a valid driver’s license.

• Dexterity to operate office and field equipment as required by the position.

Preferences

• Prior knowledge of NASA site, experienced with working on government installations preferred.
