Purpose of the Position  

  • Manages, establishes, documents, implements, and monitors, Information System Security Plans, related procedures for the facility, and classified operation. Ensures compliance with contract requirements and with government security policies and procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensures the development, documentation, and presentation of information system security plans.
  • Provides awareness, education and training activities to facility management, information system personnel, end users, and others when appropriate. 
  • Manages and ensures the development and documentation required of the approval process for the accreditation of information systems processing national security information.
  • Applies Risk Management Framework (RMF) concepts, processes, practices, and procedures on technical assignments. Performs work that requires practical experience and training.
  • Identifies and documents unique local threats/vulnerabilities to an information system.
  • Coordinates and communicates with the information system security plan stakeholders.
  • Ensures that periodic self-inspections of the information system security program are conducted as part of the overall facility self-inspection program and that corrective action is taken for all identified findings and vulnerabilities.
  • Ensures the development of information security related procedures to govern marking, handling, controlling, removing, transporting, sanitizing, reusing, and destroying media and equipment containing classified information.
  • Reports information system security incidents to appropriate points of contact. Follows up to ensure that proper protection or corrective measures have been taken when an incident/vulnerability has been discovered.
  • Implements vendors supplied authentication (password, account names) features or security relevant features.
  • Implements security features for the detection of malicious code, viruses, and intruders (hackers), as appropriate.
  • Develops and implements general and remote maintenance procedures based on requirements provided by the customer and/or government.
  • Prepares and presents information system security education, awareness, and training for appropriately cleared management, information system personnel, users and others as appropriate.
  • All other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, management information systems, or related field preferred
  • An active CompTIA Sec+ or CISSP certification preferred
  • Three or more years of experience in computer science, management information systems, systems analysis, or data security
  • Experience working with information security practices, networks, software, and hardware
  • Experience working with operating systems
  • Experience working with security architecture


Working Conditions

  • Physical effort involving able average standing, sitting, walking or detail work. Occasional risk of injury due to hazards.


Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Dexterity to operate office equipment as required by the position.

Other Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen in order to obtain required NASA badge.
  • Must be able to provide a certified Birth Certificate (with state seal), Passport, or INS Citizenship documents on date of hire (candidate will be sent home if this paperwork is not provided upon arrival on date of hire).
  • Must have the ability to communicate the English language, both verbally and written, in an effective manner.
  • Must have, and maintain, a valid driver’s license.
  • This position may require travel to or working at both Michoud Assembly Facility, LA and John C. Stennis Space Center, MS.
