Purpose of the Position

•Coordination of Environmental Air pollution and Spill Prevention programs

Principal Duties/Responsibilities of the Position

  • Assist in the collection and compilation of data, and preparation of reports required for compliance with environmental regulations, with focus on air compliance and Environmental planning.  
  • Perform inspection of facility operations to determine compliance with environmental regulations and policies.  
  • Perform air emission estimation calculations, Read and comprehend environmental regulations and policies.  
  • Prepare reports for submittal to Environmental Agencies.  
  • Assist senior staff to ensure site-wide compliance with environmental regulations and policies. 
  •  Learn to develop and implement strategies for complying with regulatory requirements.  
  • Other duties as assigned


Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelors of Science Degree in Environmental Science, Basic Science or related field of study.  
  • Basic computer skills including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including MS Access required.  
  • Experience working with Federal and State Environmental Programs preferred.  
  • Position is an entry level position.  
  • 0-2 years of related work experience expected.
  • Basic math and chemistry knowledge is required.


Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to walk up to mile, climb stairs and ladders, and carry up to 50 lbs. 
  • Must be able to work with hazardous materials.  
  • Must be able to sit/stand for extended periods of time while working on a computer.
  • Bend and stoop periodically per day
  • Push and pull periodically throughout the day
  • Walk up/down stairs frequently
  • Climb ladders and scaffolding
  • Wear PPE gear periodically (steel toe shoes, safety glasses, hard hat, gloves)
  • Dexterity to operate office equipment as required by the position.

 

Work Environment:

  • Time will be split between office, outside, and manufacturing environment.


Equipment and Machines:

  • Must be familiar with basic office equipment: Computer/laptop, telephones, copy machines etc.


Attendance:

  • Regular attendance required on-site for full time position (40 hr/week) during weekdays.  
  • Some flexibility in work time is available.  
  • Occasional Telework is available when warranted.


Special Knowledge and Skills

  • Good organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail and take direction
  • Ability to work independently but follow specific detailed instructions
  • Knowledge of / ability to learn environmental regulations.
  • Competent writing skills essential for professional communications required.
  • Must be able to work in a team atmosphere and be flexible with a changing job scope based on current needs of the department.
  • Must focus on Safety First and maintaining safe work activities.


Other Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain required NASA badge.
  • Must be able to provide a certified Birth Certificate (with state seal), Passport, or INS Citizenship documents on date of hire (candidate will be sent home if this paperwork is not provided upon arrival on date of hire).
  • Must have the ability to communicate the English language, both verbally and written, in an effective manner.
  • Must have, and maintain, a valid driver’s license.
