Purpose of the Position
- Performs preventive and corrective maintenance, modifications and installation of electrical and electronically controlled equipment as directed.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinates material requirements, maintains good housekeeping practices and records on all assigned equipment.
- Maintains and formats computer controlled equipment within facilities systems (e.g. fire alarms, elevators, cranes, lathes, welding machines, etc.).
- Works with engineering personnel to devise modification plans; works from detailed prints, schematics and drawings and verbal or written instructions; tests and analyzes data to effect proper maintenance to low voltage systems including: DC drive and variable speed (or frequency) drive motor controllers, UPS systems and related components, fire protection systems (fire alarms and fire suppression) electronic lock and security systems, elevators systems (traction and hydraulic), lifting device systems (derricks, cranes, hoists, etc.) and other PLC driven systems.
- A shopleader will be a working employee who will, at the direction of his Supervisor, assist him in the performance of his duties and/or act as a working shopleader
- While it is the responsibility of each employee to comply with all company policies and procedures, emphasis should be given to established safety and health requirements including but not limited to wearing proper Personal Protective Equipment and timely reporting of accidents and mishaps
- Assign and direct work performed by personnel under his direction
- Participate in the performance of the work required
- Ensure that specific, realistic goals in performance are met by his shop or crew
- Continuously monitor and report work schedule progress and assure that schedules are met
- Ensure the proper recordings of all work performed by subordinate personnel through use of the appropriate forms
- Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with prescribed methods, procedures, schedules and standards
- Certify the proper completion of all work performed by personnel under his direction
- Ensure time and materials are properly charged by personnel under his direction
- Ensure that the conduct of personnel for which he is responsible is in conformance with company regulations
- Ensure that the productions quality and quantity of personnel to whom assigned meets prescribed standards
- Ensure that all personnel under his direction follow established safety regulations and practices and use available safety devices
- Immediately arrange for emergency care of injured personnel and for the prompt investigation of the cause of injury and submission of required reports; make recommendations to prevent injuries to personnel
- Maintain assigned work area and equipment to established standards of housekeeping, preservation and maintenance
- Ensure that the personnel under his direction are qualified to perform their assigned work
- Train personnel when required
- In addition to these duties this job will entail the full scope of the Electrician classification.

Qualifications
- High school graduate or GED equivalent.
- Must be pre-screened and approved by the Electronic Control Review Committee to ensure successful completion of an electronics vocational program, electronics military school or electronics apprenticeship program and minimum of 5 years directly related electronics experience may be substituted for educational requirements) plus minimum of 4 years experience in industrial electricity.
- One of the following may be substituted for experience in industrial electricity:
- A 4 year electrical apprenticeship program
- A 2 year electrical apprenticeship program and an additional 2 years experience in industrial electricity
- Must be certified in accordance with SSC standards
- Shopleaders shall possess the proficiency and/or certifications required by all personnel
Working Conditions
- Physical effort involving able average standing, sitting, walking or detail work.
- Occasional risk of injury due to hazards.
Physical Requirements
- Lift minimum of 30 pound load up from the ground frequently
- Walk six hours per day
- Bend and stoop six hours per day
- Work overhead with minimum 20 pound load
- Push and pull frequently throughout the day
- Walk up/down stairs frequently
- Stand seven hours per day
- Climb ladders and scaffolding
- Wear PPE gear six hours continuously (steel toe shoes, safety glasses, hard hat, gloves)
- Tolerate extreme cold/heat for three hours continuously

Other Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen in order to obtain required NASA badge.
- Must have the ability to communicate the English language, both verbally and written, in an effective manner.
- Must have, and maintain, a valid driver’s license.
