EMCS Operator

Purpose of the Position 

• Operates a centralized computer system that monitors and controls significant utility system parameters and other FSEU; and provides discrete status data display of these monitor points.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Monitors environments site wide and is responsible for the remote control of conditioning pretreated air, cold deck and hot deck settings.

• Logs all utility control calls, scheduled outages, relays information for EMCS to a supervisor or other interested parties to maintain best operational posture.

• Monitors a wide range of various system(s) parameters and operating status. Reports problems or deficiencies to the appropriate maintenance or engineering personnel.

• Works with maintenance and engineering personnel to troubleshoot system failures or other anomalies. Provides trend data or other operational or failure mode profiles as requested.

• Performs walk throughs of critical areas to monitor and or assess systems and equipment.

• Creates, modifies, and maintains graphics interfaces used on the MetaSys platform.

• All other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED equivalent and 2 years of accredited college leading to a 2 or 4 year degree in the field of Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical or Engineering Technology. 

• Minimum of 2 years of experience relating specifically to the support position assigned may be substituted for education requirement.


Working Conditions

  • Physical effort involving able average standing, sitting, walking or detail work.
  • Occasional risk of injury due to hazards.


Physical Requirements

• Lift minimum of 30 pound load up from the ground frequently

• Walk six hours per day

• Bend and stoop six hours per day

• Work overhead with minimum 20 pound load

• Push and pull frequently throughout the day

• Walk up/down stairs frequently

• Stand seven hours per day

• Climb ladders and scaffolding

• Wear PPE gear six hours continuously (steel toe shoes, safety glasses, hard hat, gloves)

• Tolerate extreme cold/heat for three hours continuously

  • Experience with MetaSys preferred.


Other Requirements

• Must be able to obtain and maintain required NASA badge.

• Must have the ability to communicate the English language, both verbally and written, in an effective manner.

• Must have, and maintain, a valid driver’s license.
